Child Care for Construction Community Engagement

Welcome!

In 2024, the Oregon state legislature passed a law to provide funds for child care to help Oregonians enter and stay in the building and construction trades. The new Child Care for Construction program provides subsidies for child care: 

  • During apprenticeship 
  • And in the first five years as journeyworkers 

The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) and other state agencies have been working together to develop the program.

Now, BOLI wants to hear from construction trades apprentices and journeyworkers and their families as well as other community members about what could make the program easier to access and meet their families’ child care needs.  

BOLI is working with Oregon’s Kitchen Table to hear from people across Oregon. Your input will help BOLI and partners make it easier for people to learn about and access this financial support to meet their child care needs.

This survey is for people working in construction trades, their families, and community members who support people in construction trades in some way, like child care and other supports. 

Please share your ideas by filling out this survey. You can fill it out through May 31, 2026.

How can I help? 

Please fill out this survey! And invite other people you know to respond, too.  

OKT will be:

  • Hosting community conversations,
  • Talking with people at community events,
  • And working with leaders to gather input from people in their communities.

Yes. Your answers will not be tied or linked to your email or other contact information, if you choose to share that with us.

How will my input be used?

BOLI will get a report. It will be based on the answers from this survey.  It will also be based on what people share in interviews and conversations that OKT is having with people this spring through the fall. 

BOLI will use your input to make it easier for people to learn about and access financial support to meet their child care needs.
