Current Engagement
In 2024, the Oregon state legislature passed a law to provide funds for child care to help Oregonians enter and stay in the building and construction trades. The new Child Care for Construction Program is for people in construction trades during their apprenticeships and in the first five years as journeyworkers. The program is under the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI).
Now, BOLI wants to hear from construction trades apprentices and journeyworkers and their families as well as other community members about what could make the program easier to access and meet their families’ childcare needs.
BOLI is working with Oregon’s Kitchen Table to hear from people in the construction trades, their families, and other community members. Your input will help BOLI and partners make it easier for people to learn about and access this financial support to meet their child care needs.
