Hatfield Futures 2023 Showcase

This past weekend, six teams of Oregon high school students gathered at the Native American Student and Community Center at Portland State University to share their proposals for the issues facing Oregon over the next thirty years.  Students from Bandon to Molalla, Clatskanie to Brownsville, and Springfield to Helix and Pendelton contributed art, video, poetry, and performance alongside their ideas for Oregon's future. Join us in celebrating these Oregonians and their leadership!

All of the students awed us with their thoughtful approaches, collaborative spirits, and deep passion for their communities and all of Oregon.

The Hatfield Futures Project was designed to engage students from across the state in generating forward thinking ideas and policies for addressing our most important societal, environmental, and economic issues based on ideas that PSU faculty have laid out in their forthcoming book, "Oregon 2050."

Stay tuned for more highlights from the Hatfield Futures Showcase and the students' work. We are so grateful for these student leaders who made up the first year of the Hatfield Futures Project: Topher, Lauren, Kamden, Grace, Christopher, Aspen, Rachel, Brinley, Caiden, Victoria, MayaBella, Jacklin, Louisse, Gurnoor, Grace, Tenia, Hannah, Rylee, Kyah, Summer, Josie, Mackenzie, Thomas, and Marek.

Congratulations to the 2023 winning proposal from the Griswold High School (Helix) team: Brinley, Caiden, Victoria, and MayaBella!
